Biharmonic Coordinates

چکیده
Barycentric coordinates are an established mathematical tool in computer graphics and geometry processing, providing a convenient way of interpolating scalar or vector data from the boundary of a planar domain to its interior. Many different recipes for barycentric coordinates exist, some offering the convenience of a closedform expression, some providing other desirable properties at the expense of longer computation times. For example, harmonic coordinates, which are solutions to the Laplace equation, provide a long list of desirable properties (making them suitable for a wide range of applications), but lack a closed-form expression. We derive a new type of barycentric coordinates based on solutions to the biharmonic equation. These coordinates can be considered a natural generalization of harmonic coordinates, with the additional ability to interpolate boundary derivative data. We provide an efficient and accurate way to numerically compute the biharmonic coordinates and demonstrate their advantages over existing schemes. We show that biharmonic coordinates are especially appealing for (but not limited to) 2D shape and image deformation and have clear advantages over existing deformation methods.

GENERAL SOLUTION OF ELASTICITY PROBLEMS IN TWO DIMENSIONAL POLAR COORDINATES USING MELLIN TRANSFORM
Abstract In this work, the Mellin transform method was used to obtain solutions for the stress field components in two dimensional (2D) elasticity problems in terms of plane polar coordinates. the Mellin transformation was applied to the biharmonic stress compatibility equation expressed in terms of the Airy stress potential function, and the boundary value problem transformed to an algebraic ...
متن کاملElzaki transform method for finding solutions to two-dimensional elasticity problems in polar coordinates formulated using Airy stress functions
In this paper, the Elzaki transform method is used for solving two-dimensional (2D) elasticity problems in plane polar coordinates. Airy stress function was used to express the stress compatibility equation as a biharmonic equation. Elzaki transform was applied with respect to the radial coordinate to a modified form of the stress compatibility equation, and the biharmonic equation simplified t...
متن کاملFluid-structure interactions using different mesh motion techniques
In this work, we compare different mesh moving techniques for monolithically-coupled fluid-structure interactions in arbitrary Lagrangian–Eulerian coordinates. The mesh movement is realized by solving an additional partial differential equation of harmonic, linear-elastic, or biharmonic type. We examine an implementation of time discretization that is designed with finite differences. Spatial d...
متن کاملOn transfinite Gordon-Wixom interpolation schemes and their extensions
Among various barycentric coordinates and their extensions, the linear and cubic (Hermite) Gordon-Wixom transfinite interpolation schemes deliver the most accurate approximations of the harmonic and biharmonic functions, respectively. However interpolation properties of the original Gordon-Wixom interpolations are studied for convex domains only and, therefore, their current practical importanc...
